IDEAS: reshaping Inclusion and Diversity in the VET system
Improving equity in education by empowering VET professionals and creating accessible international mobility opportunities.
The Challenge: why IDEAS?
Vocational Education and Training (VET) is a powerful engine for employment and personal growth. However, international mobility opportunities—like Erasmus+ internships—are not equally accessible to everyone.
Data from the CEDEFOP Mobility Scoreboard reveals that across Europe, support for disadvantaged learners in mobility remains low, averaging only 2 on a scale of 5. Whether due to socioeconomic background, disability, or cultural barriers, too many students are left behind. The COVID-19 pandemic has further widened this gap, making the need for systemic change more urgent than ever.
Our Mission
IDEAS (Inclusion, Diversity, and Equality in the VET System) is a 24-month Erasmus+ project designed to bridge this gap.
Our goal is to improve Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles within the educational environment. We aim to strengthen the VET sector’s capacity to meet the unique needs of disadvantaged learners, significantly expanding their international mobility opportunities and unlocking their full potential.
Our Key Objectives
To drive this change, the IDEAS project focuses on two main specific objectives:
- Enhancing VET Staff Competencies: we are equipping VET Teachers, Trainers, and Tutors (TTTs) with the skills to empower disadvantaged students. This includes leveraging innovative digital tools and AI to personalize learning and remove barriers.
- Driving Systemic Change: we are helping VET organizations innovate their policies. By developing practical Guidelines and Recommendations, we are building a “safe organizational network” to facilitate inclusive mobility programs.
What We Will Deliver
Over the course of the project (September 2025 – August 2027), the consortium will produce tangible results for the VET community:
- Comparative Research Report: a mapping of good practices and AI tools for inclusive mobility.
- Modular E-Learning Course: a flexible online course for VET professionals to master inclusive mobility strategies.
- Policy Guidelines & Recommendations: a strategic toolkit for VET managers to implement organizational change.
- Piloted Mobilities: real-world testing of these new strategies through group mobilities for 15 disadvantaged learners.
